Henryk Lobaczewski: NYC RAW

Award winning fashion photographer, Henryk Lobaczewski, lifts us into the grittyside streets of New York City with his exhibition, NYC RAW, showing at Brisbane Powerhouse until Sunday 5th December 2010.

Like frames from a motion picture, Henryk's takes us on a vivid journey into the heart of New York city. Not focusing on the hustle and bustle of the NYC we all know, here we are shown views of NYC out of Henryk's personal collection, showing the immense buildings and facades on large metallic photographic prints, through the lens of a fashion photographer.

Each piece was complied with three separate frames, keeping all the motion in-tacked while also excentuating all the grit the city has to offer in a HDR photographic process. Henryk wanted to show the perfect, in the imperfect, showing

us all how beautiful and liberating it can sometimes be to relinquish control and allow a process to take control. "people are always taking things OUT of a photo, so it's seen to be'perfect' but the beauty is sometimes found in things as they lay, as they are found, and that's how I have approached NYC RAW".
